Jukka?Pekka Lehto (1958-2026) composed quietly and privately over several decades, but in the late 1990s his musicianship began to evolve into a more public profile as a composer. He studied privately with Kalevi Aho and Lauri Kilpiö. His earliest works were written for his own instrument, but he soon developed a personal voice in chamber music, vocal music, and symphonic expression as well. Air for flute and piano (1996) by Jukka?Pekka Lehto is an atmospheric piece that pays homage to Astor Piazzolla.
